Clutch slave cylinder issue.

I think I may have finally figured out the issue with the slave cylinder in our cars.

Basically the slave is allowed to over extend just slightly and then breaks the seal and fails. The original one in the car seems to last the longest because the oem pressure plate has rigid stops that keep the cylinder from being able to over extend the throw. The plastic frame of the cylinder then flexes over time and eventually fails. Then when they fail, most everyone puts an aftermarket clutch in that doesn’t have these stops and the cylinder can over extend much easier and they last half as long as the original in the car.

My solution has been to put in a clutch pedal stop that keeps the pedal about ⅜" off the floor when fully depressed and seems to have mitigated my issue. My slave failed and I have yet to replace it. I refilled the reservioir and out in the stop and it feels great and hasn’t leaked in a few hundred miles.

Pics of the oem pressure plate with the stops and my Sachs stage two before it went in. You can see the rigid bars between the fingers on the pressure plate if the oem part and how there aren’t any on the Sachs.
